Staggered Recess Week 2
The Senate is back in session today following their week-long October recess. The House is out and will return the week of October 26.
Next Steps on Tax Reform
This week, the Senate is expected to consider S. Con. Res. 25, their FY18 Budget Resolution. The Senate resolution contains reconciliation language that provides the Senate Finance Committee with $1.5 trillion over 10 years for tax reform. As a reminder, reconciliation is a legislative vehicle that allows the Senate to pass budget-related legislation with a simple 50+1 majority, instead of the 60 votes typically required. Reconciliation can only be used once per fiscal year.
