AEO Policy Overview
AEO is the national member organization and voice of microbusiness in the United States. For nearly two decades, AEO and its more than 400 member organizations have helped more than two million entrepreneurs contribute to economic growth as they support themselves, their families, and their communities. Our membership includes microlenders, small business development organizations, non-profit lending organizations, and educational institutions dedicated to microenterprise.
Our policy agenda focuses on the development of strong and effective microbusiness initiatives to assist underserved entrepreneurs in starting, stabilizing, and expanding their businesses. Microbusinesses, which account for 88% of all businesses in the United States, are defined as businesses with zero to four employees. Our advocacy efforts seek to create jobs through entrepreneurship.
We work closely with policymakers at the national level on Capitol Hill and in the Administration to ensure the availability of capital and technical assistance to entrepreneurs around the country. We collaborate with State Microenterprise Associations, national policy coalition partners, local agencies, and other industry stakeholders.
