Affordable Care Act for Small Business

"The Affordable Care Act may influence how America's 25.5 million microbusiness owners are able to provide health insurance options for themselves and to their employees. AEO encourages entrepreneurs to familiarize themselves with the ACA's provisions. It is essential that they develop an understanding of the intricacies of the Exchange marketplace, and how it will apply to their enterprises," says Connie Evans, president and CEO of Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO).

There’s a lot to learn about the Affordable Care Act. It is very comprehensive and touches every aspect of our health system. Small businesses, however, really only need to focus on a few key elements:

  • The employer requirements—what you have to do for your employees, which varies by business size;
  • The financial help available for employers offering health insurance and employees purchasing insurance;
  • The new marketplace for health insurance where you and your employees can shop;
  • The resources available if you have questions.
