SBA Sees Record Year for Community Advantage Lending

The Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) would like to congratulate William (Bill) Manger, Manny Hidalgo and the entire team at the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Economic Opportunity for a record year of Community Advantage lending. In FY 2017, 69 Community Advantage lenders originated 1,043 loans with an aggregate value of $138,039,560 and an average loan size of $132,349. This represents a 6 percent increase in volume and an 11 percent increase in value compared to the prior fiscal year.

September Advocacy Roundup: Tax Day Arrives!

After nine months of talks, the “Big Six” — Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, National Economic Chair Gary Cohn, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY), House Speaker Paul Ryan (WI), and the Chairs of the Congressional tax-writing committees, Senate Finance Chair Orrin Hatch (UT) and House Ways and Means Chair Kevin Brady (TX) — released their tax reform framework. The following framework provisions pertain to businesses: 

  • 25 percent tax rate for pass-through entities, such LLCs, S Corps, Partnerships

AEO Hosts Successful Forum for Small Business Owners and Government Officials

Washington, D.C. — The Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) hosted another successful roundtable connecting Black small business owners with members of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), including William Manger, associate administrator, Office of Capital Access, on Thursday, September 21. Following in the footsteps of a similar event that took place in Baltimore in July, “Inclusive Entrepreneurship: Untapped Opportunities for Success” gave business owners in Washington, D.C., an opportunity to provide insight on topics such as accessing capital, current challenges and the impetus for their entrepreneurship journeys.
