FY2014 Appropriations Update: Victory in The House And A Glance Forward

Last week,the full House Appropriations Committee met to approve the FY2014 Financial Services and General Government spending bill. The bill was adopted, and will now move to the full House Floor for a vote at a time to be determined.

In a big victory, this year’s spending bill included funding for many of the programs AEO members care about at the levels AEO requested.  Against all odds, the bill restored $3.5 million in funding for the SBA’s Program for Investment in Microentrepreneurs (PRIME Program), which had been slated …

My First National Small Business Week

As one of four summer interns who just started at AEO, I joined the Marketing and Communications team at the perfect time. A few weeks after my start date I learned about Small Business Week, which was held June 17-21. The internet was flooded with articles about Small Business Week, news about small businesses, lenders, and new government legislation that would affect small business. It was an overwhelming amount of information, but I was able to piece it together to learn a few things.
