AEO Applauds House Subcommittee Funding for TA

House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government Funds SBA Microbusiness Programs

On June 16, the House Appropriations Subcommittee passed its FY2012 Financial Services and General Government bill, which included funding for Small Business Administration (SBA) and Department of the Treasury lending programs.  Levels of funding important to AEO members included the following:  
 

  • Microloan TA - $14.5 million
  • 7(j) TA -  $3.1 million
  • PRIME  - $5 Million
  • Score - $7 Million
  • WBC - $14 Million

“One In Three” Grabs White House Attention

Last week, I took our One in Three message to South Carolina. Having released the Power of One in Three: Creating Opportunities for All Americans to Bounce Back report at the AEO 20th National Microenterprise Conference earlier this month, we were invited to the State House in Columbia, South Carolina. The South Carolina legislature, along with microenterprise practitioners and other stakeholders, is taking steps to do as the AEO report urges “unlock the promise of micro businesses.”
